This scholarship was started in memory of Reid F. Lessig, a graduate of Kutztown University in 1972.
Mr. Lessig was a member of the KU Marching Unit as a percussionist and drum major from 1968 to 1972. He continued as a show designer for the Marching Unit until his death in 1994.
This scholarship is given to a freshman member of the KU Marching Unit, Wind Ensemble, or Concert Band. Many students have benefited from this scholarship over the years.
Applications are available at the beginning of the Spring Semester.

R.G. Wells KU Jazz Band Scholarship

This scholarship was started by Richard G. Wells in 2000. Mr. Wells organized the Jazz Program in 1970 when he was an Associate Professor at the University.
The scholarship is awarded to a student or students in the KU Jazz Band who excel in both their musical performance and academic programs.
